From 2009 QGCA is introducing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements to maintain ordinary membership.
You are probably already engaging in CPD and we anticipate that this requirement will not be onerous. 2009 is a transition year when we will be finalising the requirements and aiming to align them with the Queensland College of Teachers.

To fulfil the QGCA criteria required for annual membership renewal, 15 hours CPD is required per year for every full time year of work.

CPD requirements are calculated on a pro rata basis for part-time work or leave. Emeritus members or retired members are not required to participate in CPD.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT PRACTIONERS
QGCA is also working collaboratively with the Careers Industry Council of Australia (CICA) to identify the qualifications and experience required to be endorsed as Australian Professional Careers Development Practitioners.
To be endorsed as a Professional Careers Development Practitioner you need to
- identify as a Professional Careers Development Practitioner on your membership renewal form and
- participate in 15 hours Continuing Professional Development (CPD) that relates specifically to careers.
This will ensure that the professional standards and competencies required to meet the CICA guidelines for Australian Careers Practitioners are met. QGCA is working collaboratively with other CICA associations to source, facilitate and provide CPD for careers practitioners.
